How do we know that we can be perfect in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

We can be perfect in Christ because His righteousness is imputed to us through faith, securing our standing before God.

The assurance of our perfection in Christ stems from the understanding of our union with Him through faith. When we believe in Christ, we are considered to have died and risen with Him, as demonstrated in passages like Colossians and Ephesians. Our justification and sanctification are tied to His righteousness, not our works. As stated in Hebrews 10:14, by one offering, He has perfected forever those who are sanctified. Thus, the promise of perfection is contingent upon Christ's finished work, not our efforts, highlighting the key tenet of sovereign grace that emphasizes God's initiative in salvation.
