How do we know that we can rejoice despite suffering?

Answered in 1 source

Believers can rejoice in suffering because their hope is anchored in Christ, who has overcome all trials and provided eternal salvation.

Paul's own experience illustrates that rejoicing persists even in suffering. Despite being in chains, he encourages the Philippians to rejoice, knowing that their salvation is secure in Christ. He recognizes that trials refine faith and deepen reliance on God. Jesus Himself rejoiced in trials, teaching that true joy comes from a relationship with God and understanding His providential care. Therefore, suffering becomes an opportunity for growth and deeper assurance in God's promises, as believers can trust in their victorious Savior.
