How do we know that we have been changed by the Gospel?

Answered in 1 source

We know we have been changed by the Gospel when we experience a hatred for our past sins and a desire for righteousness.

The evidence of change through the Gospel is primarily seen in a believer's new attitudes and desires. As noted in the sermon, one crucial indicator is a genuine revulsion towards past sins that once brought satisfaction. This profound transformation occurs because God, through the Gospel, replaces the stony heart with a new heart that yearns for intimate fellowship with Him. Additionally, the new believer will often have a fresh perspective that prioritizes God’s Word, prayer, and the pursuit of holiness in a way that contrasts sharply with their former life. This renewal may manifest in different areas of one's life, reflecting a deeper spiritual awakening and commitment to Christ.
