How do we know that we have the Holy Spirit?

Answered in 2 sources

Believers can know they have the Holy Spirit through the presence of spiritual fruit and a transformed life (Galatians 5:22-23).

Knowledge of the Holy Spirit's presence in a believer's life is evidenced by the spiritual fruit that manifests as a result of His work (Galatians 5:22-23). The attributes of love, joy, peace, and others indicate that a person is being led by the Spirit. Additionally, the internal assurance through Scripture confirms that believers 'know' they have the Spirit, as John writes, 'Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit' (1 John 4:13). This inner witness, alongside demonstrable growth in Christ-like character, provides assurance to believers that they possess the Holy Spirit.
