How do we know that we need a savior?

Answered in 1 source

We recognize our need for a Savior when we understand our condition as sinners unable to fulfill God's law perfectly (Romans 3:23).

The need for a Savior is rooted in the biblical teaching that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). It is crucial to understand that the law demands perfection, and our inability to meet this standard illustrates our desperate need for a Savior. Just as the man in the ditch was unconscious and could do nothing to help himself, so too are we spiritually dead in our sins. The acknowledgment of one’s sinful state and the realization that self-righteousness is insufficient lead us to the conclusion that we need a rescuer—one who is capable of saving us. This understanding sets the stage for recognizing Jesus Christ as the Good Samaritan who comes to our aid, covering our wounds and providing life.
