How do we know that we need Christ to be accepted by God?

Answered in 1 source

We know we need Christ because the Bible reveals that no one can fulfill the law perfectly, which is required for acceptance by God (Romans 5:12).

The necessity of Christ arises from the reality that all of humanity falls short of God's standard of perfection as purposed in His law. Romans 5:12 clarifies that through Adam's transgression, sin entered the world, and therefore, all are born into sin and incapable of achieving the righteousness necessary to stand before a holy God. The law serves to reveal our sinfulness and point us to Christ, who alone accomplished this perfect obedience and atoned for the sins of His people, making Him our only hope for acceptance.
