How do we know that we need spiritual life to worship God?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture clearly states that those born of the flesh cannot understand or receive the things of the Spirit.

In John 3:6, we learn that 'that which is born of the flesh is flesh,' meaning our natural state is insufficient for spiritual communion with God. 1 Corinthians 2:14 reinforces this by declaring that the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God; they are foolishness to him. Thus, without spiritual life, our attempts to worship God are futile, as we lack the necessary understanding and connection to engage Him meaningfully.
