How do we know that we should rejoice always?

Answered in 1 source

Our continual rejoicing is based on God's command and our identity in Christ, as affirmed in Scripture.

In Philippians 4:4, Paul calls for a continuous rejoicing in the Lord. This command carries the same authority as the Ten Commandments and stems from God's sovereign will for His people to experience joy in all circumstances. Our ability to rejoice is not contingent upon our external situations but upon our understanding of our position 'in the Lord.' Believers are encouraged to cultivate joy through faith, reflecting on the hope and security we have in Christ, which empowers us even amid suffering.
