How do we know that Zechariah and Elizabeth were righteous before God?

Answered in 1 source

Zechariah and Elizabeth were called righteous because of their faith and obedience, reflecting God's grace.

In Luke 1:6, both Zechariah and Elizabeth are described as righteous before God. This righteousness, however, isn't due to their works or adherence to the law, but because of their faith in God's promises. Paul in Romans explains that righteousness comes through faith, demonstrated by Abraham, and this principle is evident in Zechariah and Elizabeth's lives as they acted in accordance with God's ordinances through faith, foreshadowing the righteousness given through Christ alone, the ultimate mediator and source of righteousness for all believers.
