How do we know the anointing of the Holy Spirit is true?

Answered in 2 sources

We know the anointing is true because it is a promise of God, received through faith, and is evidenced by the believer's inward transformation and understanding of divine truth (Galatians 3:14).

The truth of the anointing is rooted in scripture and God's promises to His people. Galatians 3:14 states that believers receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. This assurance comes from the redemptive work of Christ and reflects God's commitment to His elect. The anointing isn't something that believers seek but a gift they receive upon believing in Christ. The transformation in their lives, the ability to understand scripture, and the conviction of sin are all evidence of the Holy Spirit's presence and anointing. If an individual is in Christ, they have received this anointing, confirming that they belong to Him.
