How do we know the church did not start at Pentecost?

The belief that the church began at Pentecost is based on misconceptions about the nature of the church's formation. However, scriptural evidence shows that Jesus initiated the church during his earthly ministry. For example, when Jesus called his disciples and preached the kingdom of God, he was laying the foundation for the church. Furthermore, the practices of baptism and the institution of the Lord's Supper were established before the event of Pentecost, underscoring that the church was already in existence. Therefore, the church's origin is tied to Christ's ministry rather than solely to the events at Pentecost.
