How do we know the devil's power is limited?

Answered in 1 source

The devil's power is limited by God's sovereign will and can only extend as far as God permits (Job 1:12).

Satan's power is inherently limited compared to God's unlimited sovereignty. While the devil operates with a degree of authority as the god of this world, he is constrained by God's sovereignty. For example, in the book of Job, God permits the devil to afflict Job, but it is under strict limits (Job 1:12). This reflects that while Satan can influence and tempt, he cannot act beyond the boundaries set by God. Therefore, any perception of Satan as an omnipotent force is fundamentally flawed; he is, in fact, a created being with restricted capabilities.
