How do we know the doctrine of Jesus is true?

In John 7:16, Jesus declares, 'My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me,' indicating that His teachings are divine in origin. He goes further to say that anyone who sincerely desires to do God's will can acknowledge whether His teachings come from God or are merely human in origin.
