How do we know the doctrine of sovereignty in salvation is true?

In John 3:8, Jesus uses the analogy of the wind to describe the operation of the Spirit in regeneration: "The wind bloweth where it listeth... so is every one that is born of the Spirit." This illustrates that the new birth is not something we can control or predict; it is a sovereign act of God. Throughout Scripture, we see that God is in control of salvation, as illustrated in Ephesians 1:4-5, where it states that He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world. This sovereign election and the subsequent regeneration by the Holy Spirit affirm the truth of God's sovereignty in salvation.
