How do we know the everlasting covenant is true?

Answered in 11 sources

The truth of the everlasting covenant is confirmed by God's promises and His unchanging nature, as well as the fulfillment of scriptural prophecies.

The everlasting covenant's truth rests upon the unbreakable promises made by God, who cannot lie. Scripture validates this covenant by presenting God’s consistent faithfulness throughout biblical history. For example, in Galatians 3:15-17, Paul explains how the promises made to Abraham and his seed—Christ—precede the giving of the Law, demonstrating that God’s plan for salvation was established long before the covenant of works was introduced. The assurance that this covenant remains intact, despite human failure under the law, points to God’s overarching authority and purpose.

Furthermore, the fulfillment of prophecies regarding the coming Messiah and His redemptive work fortifies our belief in the everlasting covenant. Because God has acted through history, culminating in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, we find profound evidence supporting the covenant. Isaiah’s prophecy in Isaiah 55:3 invites believers to partake in this covenant, reaffirming that eternal life comes through faith in Christ, the cornerstone of our assurance.
