How do we know the gospel is central to God's plan?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel has always been God's way of saving sinners, as He has consistently revealed His plan of redemption through Scripture.

Throughout the Scripture, the consistent theme of the gospel can be found in God's dealings with humanity. The sermon illustrates that from the Old Testament to the New Testament, God's redemptive message has remained unchanged: salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. For example, in Hebrews 3:16-19, it recounts that the Israelites heard the gospel yet failed to believe it, revealing that the message of God's grace was intended for them just as it is for us today. Furthermore, in Romans 1:16, Paul asserts that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. This continuity underscores the significance of the gospel as the only means through which God saves sinners.
