How do we know the gospel is good news?

Answered in 5 sources

The gospel is good news because it offers salvation and righteousness to those who are spiritually needy and cannot pay for it themselves.

The good news of the gospel is that it provides a remedy for our deep spiritual need. It acknowledges that all of humanity is in a state of spiritual famine, desperately lacking the righteousness necessary to stand before God. As seen in the parable of the good news, those who are thirsty and hungry for righteousness are promised fulfillment through Christ. This fulfillment does not come from our own works, but as a gift from God, highlighted in Isaiah 55:1, which invites the thirsty to come and buy without money. This portrays the gospel as good news from a far country—a message of grace that offers salvation to the undeserving. Because Christ paid the price for our sins and provides His righteousness, we can confidently proclaim that the gospel is indeed good news.
