How do we know the Gospel is powerful to save?

Answered in 2 sources

The Gospel is powerful to save because it comes 'mighty through God,' effectively breaking down our strongholds of sin, as Paul describes.

The Gospel's power lies not in human effort but in God's might, as stated in 2 Corinthians 10:4. It is through the Gospel that our fortified walls of self-righteousness, pride, self-indulgence, and self-will are dismantled. These walls, symbols of our spiritual rebellion and inherent sinfulness, are no match for the transforming power of God's truth. When the Gospel is proclaimed, it confronts our sinful defenses and has the divine authority to bring every thought into obedience to Christ. Thus, it is not mere information but an instrument of spiritual conquest.
