How do we know the gospel truly offers hope?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel offers hope through the proclamation of what Christ has done for us, not what we need to do.

The hope within the gospel is a divine proclamation of good news that stems from God’s action rather than human effort. As articulated in the sermon, the gospel is essentially about what Christ has accomplished, which brings comfort to the hopeless sinner. The message of Isaiah 40 reminds us that our sin problems have been addressed through Christ's redemptive work. When we accept this truth, we also accept that our maneuvers to earn God’s favor are futile and insufficient. Thus, our hope is found firmly in the accomplished work of Christ who declares our sins are forgiven, and we are free to embrace the grace offered to us.
