How do we know the heart's condition?

Answered in 1 source

The condition of the heart is known through God's insight and the reflection of our actions (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

According to Scripture, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Only God knows the true condition of our hearts; He examines and discerns the thoughts and intentions that come from them (Jeremiah 17:10). This means that while we might deceive ourselves about our own spiritual state, we must rely on God's Word to reveal the truth about our thoughts, intentions, and actions. The Word of God serves as a mirror that shows us our inner selves, compelling us to examine our hearts regularly.
