How do we know the Holy Spirit guided the Israelites?

Answered in 1 source

The guidance of the Holy Spirit is illustrated by the cloud and pillar of fire that led the Israelites and is paralleled in the New Testament as the Spirit's role in guiding believers.

In 1 Corinthians 10:1-3, Paul refers to the Israelites being baptized into the cloud, which signifies their immersion in the Holy Spirit's guidance during their wilderness journey. The same Holy Spirit leads believers today, helping them follow Christ, just as He once led the Israelites. This guidance is articulated in Romans 8:14, where it states, 'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.' Understanding the Spirit's role in both the Old and New Testaments reveals the continuity of God's guidance throughout biblical history.
