How do we know the Holy Spirit is guiding us?

Answered in 3 sources

We know the Holy Spirit is guiding us when we see a deeper understanding of Scripture and a growing desire to glorify Christ.

One of the primary indicators that the Holy Spirit is guiding a believer is an increasing understanding of Scripture and spiritual truths. As highlighted in John 16:13, the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, allowing us to grasp the deeper meanings of God's Word that we may have previously been unable to understand. This guidance is often accompanied by a transformed heart and mind, leading to a greater desire to live according to God's commands and to glorify Jesus Christ in all aspects of life.

Additionally, the emphasis on glorifying Christ is a clear sign of the Holy Spirit’s influence. The Spirit directs attention away from self and human will, pointing believers to the supremacy and glory of Christ, as seen in John 16:14, where Christ Himself states, 'He shall glorify Me.' As believers recognize Christ's preeminence and entrust their lives to Him, they demonstrate the work of the Holy Spirit within them.
