How do we know the Holy Spirit is truly our Comforter?

Answered in 1 source

We know the Holy Spirit is our Comforter through His ministry of convicting us of sin and testifying of Christ.

The Holy Spirit proves to be our Comforter by actively working in our lives to convict us of sin and guide us in righteousness. As cited in John 16:8, the Spirit reproves the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This conviction leads believers to recognize their need for a Savior and the sufficiency of Christ’s atoning work. Additionally, Romans 8:16 affirms that the Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, providing assurance of His comforting presence in our lives. The Holy Spirit’s roles as intercessor and teacher further validate His comfort to us.
