How do we know the human will is not free?

Answered in 1 source

Scripture teaches that the human will is bound by sin and cannot truly choose to seek God without divine intervention.

Romans 8:7 states that the natural mind is enmity against God and is not subject to His law; hence, the will is in bondage to sin. This bondage affects every human being since the fall, leading to a will that is not free to seek God or choose righteousness without His intervening grace. Martin Luther emphasized this in his teachings on the bondage of the will, arguing that true willingness to follow Christ can only be produced by the power of God. In Psalm 110, it is noted that God makes His people willing in the day of His power, indicating the necessity of divine assistance for anyone to come to Christ.
