How do we know the importance of helping others in need?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus emphasizes our duty to help others in need through the example of the Good Samaritan.

In the parable, Jesus tells of a Samaritan who, despite having no obligations to the wounded man, responds with compassion and immediate action. This illustrates that the true measure of a person's character is how they treat those who are in need. The Samaritan's willingness to go above and beyond—binding the man's wounds, providing transport and arranging for further care—serves as a tangible example of love in action. Believers are called not only to acknowledge the needs around them but to actively engage in providing help, reflecting the heart of Christ who serves and cares for the suffering.
