How do we know the importance of looking to Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Looking to Christ is essential for salvation, as He is the only hope for redemption.

The act of looking to Christ is emphasized as the way to salvation throughout Scripture. In John 3:14-15, it states that just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes may have eternal life. This looking signifies faith and trust in Christ alone as our substitute and Redeemer. Just as Lot's wife looked back to Sodom and faced judgment, believers are called to look unto Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith and not to anything else that can’t save.
