How do we know the importance of preaching the gospel?

Answered in 5 sources

Preaching the gospel is of utmost importance as it is the means by which sinners are saved and believers are spiritually nourished.

The necessity of preaching the gospel is emphasized by Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 9:16, where he states, 'woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel.' This denotes a deep conviction that preaching is not optional, but a divinely mandated responsibility. The gospel is the avenue through which God brings about salvation (Romans 1:16) and it is vital for the spiritual growth of the church. Furthermore, the commitment to preach the gospel should be driven by an understanding of its significance for the eternal destinies of souls. Without the proclamation of the gospel, there can be no true knowledge of Jesus Christ, and thus no true salvation. Hence, believers are called not only to heed the gospel but to share it fervently.
