How do we know the law of God is important for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The law reveals our inability to achieve perfection, thus prompting our need for grace and salvation.

The law of God serves a fundamental role in our understanding of salvation. It establishes the standard of perfection, which fallen humanity is incapable of meeting due to sin. In Luke 10:25-28, Jesus redirects the scribe to the law, indicating that true knowledge of the law must lead to a realization of our shortcomings. The law exposes our failure to love God wholly and encourages an awareness of our need for a Savior who fulfills the law on our behalf. Without recognizing the law's demands, one cannot appreciate the grace offered through faith in Christ.
