How do we know the love of the Father is in us?

Answered in 1 source

We know the love of the Father is in us if we do not love the world and desire to obey His commands.

The love of the Father is evidenced in our lives through the desire to live according to His will and commandments. In 1 John 2:15-17, John warns that if someone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. A true believer exhibits a transformation that results in the desire to obey the precepts of the gospel—this is often referred to as gospel obedience. This tension between worldly affections and the love of the Father reflects our ongoing struggle, yet the presence of genuine love for God will lead us to prioritize Him above all else.
