How do we know the necessity of atonement in revival?

Answered in 1 source

Atonement is essential for revival, as illustrated in Hezekiah's offerings, which pointed to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ for the redemption of God's people.

The necessity of atonement for revival is clearly demonstrated in the actions of Hezekiah during his reign. As the king restored proper worship, he initiated a series of sacrifices including bullocks, rams, and lambs, all of which were to make atonement for the sins of Israel. This act highlighted that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins (Hebrews 9:22), and the sacrifices made were a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Therefore, true revival can only occur where there is acknowledgment of sin, atonement, and a return to the true worship of God, centered on Christ’s sacrifice.
