How do we know the necessity of baptism in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

Baptism is a command of Christ and serves as an outward sign of an inward faith in Him.

Baptism, as taught in Acts 2:38, is an essential ordinance for believers which signifies their identification with Christ. While baptism itself does not save, it is a command from our Lord and serves as a vital expression of one’s faith and obedience. In baptism, we publicly declare our faith in Jesus—acknowledging His death, burial, and resurrection. It is an act of obedience that illustrates our new life in Christ and is closely tied to our repentance and belief. Each believer who has been pricked in their hearts, recognizing the grace of God, should respond through baptism as a public confession of their faith.
