How do we know the necessity of sacrifice is true?

Answered in 1 source

The necessity of sacrifice is rooted in God's holiness and our inherent sinfulness, which requires atonement.

From a biblical perspective, the frequent mention of burnt offerings and sacrifices in the law highlights humanity's need for atonement. The sacrifices were necessary to address God's judgment on sin, as illustrated in the continual practice of offering burnt offerings 'morning and evening.' These rituals signify the weight of our sin and point to the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, who fulfilled this requirement perfectly. Through Christ's one-time offering, the need for ongoing sacrifices is fulfilled, as He has borne the judgment of God on our behalf. Hence, understanding our need for sacrifice is fundamental to grasping the fullness of salvation and the grace extended to us through Jesus Christ.
