How do we know the New Covenant is different from the Old Covenant?

Answered in 2 sources

The New Covenant, as stated in Jeremiah 31:31, is everlasting and made through Jesus Christ, unlike the Old Covenant which was temporary and made with the nation of Israel.

The New Covenant, referred to in Jeremiah 31:31, is distinct from the Old Covenant because it was established through Jesus Christ and is characterized as everlasting, remaining effective for eternity. While the Old Covenant given to Israel was temporary and could not bring salvation due to human failure, the New Covenant is upheld by Jesus, who is perfect and unable to fail. This shift indicates a deeper, more transformative relationship between God and His people, where Jesus serves as the surety and guarantee of this covenant, fulfilling all its requirements on behalf of His elect.
