How do we know the old covenant is obsolete?

Answered in 1 source

The old covenant is rendered obsolete by the establishment of the new covenant, as declared in Hebrews 8:13.

The obsolescence of the old covenant is clearly stated in Scripture. Hebrews 8:13 tells us that by speaking of a new covenant, the first is made old and ready to vanish away. This indicates that God has intentionally set aside the old covenant, which was fulfilled through the work of Christ. Paul affirms that if righteousness could be attained through the law, Christ died in vain (Galatians 2:21), confirming that the law's role was temporary and preparatory, leading to the ultimate revelation of God's grace in the gospel.
