How do we know the Old Testament points to Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

The Old Testament points to Christ through its sacrificial system, which foreshadows His ultimate sacrifice for sins.

In the sermon, it is highlighted that many Old Testament rituals and sacrifices were merely shadows of what was to come in Christ. Jesus Himself indicated this in John 5:39, stating that the Scriptures testify of Him. The sacrifices that the Israelites offered were never intended to truly appease God but pointed to the necessity of a Savior. Understanding the Old Testament requires a Christ-centered lens, revealing its purpose to prepare humanity for the coming of the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Thus, without Christ, one cannot fully grasp the meaning of the Law.
