How do we know the pastoral titles used today are unbiblical?

Answered in 1 source

Many popular pastoral titles promote elitism and are not found in the New Testament, which emphasizes humility and service.

The use of lofty titles like 'Reverend' or 'Senior Pastor' can create a divide within the church and obscure the doctrine of the priesthood of all believers. Jesus Himself spoke against such honorific titles in Matthew 23:6-12, reminding His followers that they are part of a brotherhood devoid of hierarchies. The New Testament consistently refers to church leaders as servants rather than as titled individuals. By adhering to this model, churches can cultivate a culture of humility and accountability rather than one of pride and exclusivity.
