How do we know the preaching of the gospel is essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation comes through faith in the gospel, as God ordained the preaching as the means of grace.

The necessity of preaching the gospel for salvation is rooted in God's sovereign plan. Scripture teaches that faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). In Acts 28, Paul was sent to Malta to preach the gospel to the elect there. This aligns with God’s overarching purpose that all His chosen people must be called and regenerated through the gospel's proclamation (John 6:37-45). God does not bypass His ordained means of grace; thus, the gospel remains crucial for sinners' salvation.
