How do we know the priesthood of Jesus is superior?

The priesthood of Jesus is superior due to its eternal nature. Hebrews 7 describes how the Levitical priests were subject to death and could not continue in their role indefinitely, necessitating a constant succession of priests. In contrast, Jesus holds an unchangeable priesthood (Hebrews 7:24) because He lives forever to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25). This makes Him a surety of a better covenant, as He fulfills all priestly functions perfectly and eternally, offering us a direct relationship with God free from the limitations of the former covenant.
