How do we know the righteousness of Christ is imputed to believers?

Answered in 2 sources

We know Christ's righteousness is imputed to believers because Scripture declares that we are made righteous through faith in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

The imputation of Christ's righteousness to believers is a core aspect of sovereign grace theology. As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:21, 'For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.' This means that when a believer trusts in Christ, they are clothed in His perfect, spotless righteousness. Their sins are transferred to Christ, and His righteousness is credited to them, allowing them to stand before God justified. This imputed righteousness is eternal and enduring, as it is rooted in Christ's finished work on the cross.
