How do we know the Sabbath is no longer required for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

The New Testament reveals that the Sabbath observance was a shadow of Christ, and we are no longer bound to the ceremonial laws.

In Colossians 2:16-17, the Apostle Paul explicitly states that Christians are not to be judged regarding food, drink, or festivals, including the Sabbath, as these were shadows pointing to Christ. Once Christ fulfilled the purpose of the law through His life, death, and resurrection, these ceremonial practices became obsolete. Additionally, Hebrews 4 teaches that believers enter a spiritual Sabbath rest through faith in Christ, indicating that true rest is found in Him and not in adherence to specific days. This understanding affirms that while the Sabbath had significant meaning in the Old Testament, for Christians, it culminates in the rest provided by faith in Christ's completed work.
