How do we know the Word of God is effective in our hearts?

Answered in 1 source

The effectiveness of the Word of God in our hearts is evidenced by our response: whether we produce fruit and remain steadfast in faith.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus delineates the responses to the Word of God observed in four types of hearts. The good ground, representing the receptive heart, serves as the benchmark for effectiveness, where the seed bears fruit sixtyfold, or even a hundredfold (Luke 8:15). This fruitfulness signifies an honest and good heart that not only hears but also keeps the Word, inherently trusting it amid challenges. Hence, we can evaluate our own spiritual condition based on our persistence in faith and the fruit we yield. The call to examine ourselves echoes throughout Scripture, urging believers to self-reflect on whether their lives bear the marks of a transformed heart that embraces God's Word as true and life-changing.
