How do we know true belief in Christ is genuine?

Answered in 1 source

True belief in Christ is evidenced by a transformed heart and a desire to follow Him completely.

Genuine belief in Christ goes beyond mere intellectual assent; it is a belief that encompasses the heart. In Acts 8, Simon the magician appears to believe, yet Peter identifies that his heart is not right before God (Acts 8:21). True belief brings about repentance and a desire for a relationship with the Redeemer, not just a desire for the gifts He offers. The difference between true faith and false belief is found in the transformation of the heart that acknowledges one’s sinfulness and fully trusts in Christ as Savior.
