How do we know true conversion is possible?

Answered in 1 source

True conversion is evident through the transformation of a person's heart and actions by the Holy Spirit.

Conversion is described as a genuine work of the Holy Spirit that produces a profound change in a person's heart and behavior. In the case of the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-22, we see that despite his desire for eternal life, he ultimately walks away sorrowful due to his attachment to his wealth. This illustrates that true conversion involves not only feelings of religious affection but also an active renunciation of sin and idols that compete with devotion to Christ. The witness of the Spirit in our hearts assures believers of their conversion as they grow in holiness and are led to submit fully to the Lordship of Christ.
