How do we know true love exists in a believer's life?

Answered in 1 source

True love is evidenced by a believer's love for others, which is a reflection of their relationship with God.

According to Scripture, the true evidence of salvation is demonstrated through love—'By this shall all men know you are my disciples, if you love one another' (John 13:35). This love is not merely a feeling but an active expression of God's grace in a believer's life. It is the first fruit of the Spirit and is vital in fulfilling Christ's commandment. When a person genuinely loves, it indicates their birth from God, as 'everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God' (1 John 4:7). Thus, love becomes a definitive mark of those who belong to Christ.
