How do we know we are among God's elect?

Answered in 7 sources

We know we are God's elect by believing that Jesus is the Christ, which is an assurance of our regeneration (1 John 5:1).

In the context of sovereign grace theology, being among God's elect is inherently linked to faith in Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:1 states, 'Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.' This indicates that true belief in Christ is a manifestation of being chosen by God. Our assurance comes not from our works or feelings but from our trust in Christ as the one who fulfilled all righteousness for His people. The certainty of our election is grounded in faith, and that faith is a gift from God, signifying our regeneration and status as His beloved children.
