God's elect are those who possess a heart to love Him and trust in His sovereign grace.
To discern whether one is among God's elect, one must observe their response to God’s sovereignty and Christ's authority. As indicated in John 10:27, 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.' Those who are truly God's sheep will respond positively to His call, demonstrating a heart that loves Him for who He is and is thankful for His sovereign grace in election. This contrasts sharply with those who reject His sovereignty, as they display a lack of repentance and faith. Understanding oneself as a sinner in need of mercy correlates with the assurance of being chosen, as God's elect are characterized by their reliance on His grace and their acknowledgment of their own unworthiness before Him (Luke 18:13).
