How do we know we are called to follow Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

We are called to follow Christ when we hear His voice and respond by forsaking our old lives, as seen in John 10:27.

In John 10:27, Jesus states, 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.' This verse directly relates to the assurance of our calling as believers. It is not merely a matter of intellectual assent to theological principles, but a transformative call to a relationship with Christ, who knows His sheep personally. When we are drawn to Christ, it is because He calls us. This relationship compels us to follow Him, which implies a continuous and active response to His guidance. Believers are called from darkness into light, leading them to abandon their sinful pasts and to pursue righteousness in Christ. The comfort exists in knowing Christ will complete the work He begins in us.
