How do we know we are forgiven by God?

Answered in 2 sources

We know we are forgiven by God when we seek Him sincerely and find a change in our heart towards Him.

Assurance of forgiveness comes from a genuine desire to seek God. According to Isaiah 55:6, we are encouraged to seek the Lord while He may be found, which indicates that this act of seeking reveals a heart that recognizes its need for divine mercy. Additionally, in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Paul highlights that God reconciles us to Himself through Christ and does not impute our trespasses to us. Thus, when a believer feels drawn to the Lord, repents of sin, and trusts in Christ's work, they can be confident in their forgiveness and reconciliation with God. This assurance is not based on human effort or merit but on God's faithfulness to His promise.
