How do we know we are forgiven sinners?

Answered in 1 source

We know we are forgiven sinners through God's mercy and the cleansing work of Christ.

Isaiah 6:6-7 illustrates the truth of God's forgiving mercy. When the seraph touched Isaiah's lips with a burning coal, it symbolized the purification and forgiveness of his sin. This act illustrates God's initiative in providing forgiveness through sacrifice. In Christ, we have the ultimate atonement for sin, as He bore our transgressions in His body. The assurance of our forgiveness comes from faith in the redemptive work of Christ, who reconciles us to God by taking our punishment upon Himself. Hence, acknowledging our sinfulness and trusting in God's grace leads to the affirmation that we are indeed forgiven sinners.
