How do we know we are loved by God?

Answered in 18 sources

We know we are loved by God when His love is perfected in us, demonstrated through our obedience to His commandments (1 John 2:3-6).

To know that we are loved by God involves an assurance that comes when we experience 'the love of God perfected' in our lives. According to 1 John 2:3-6, the evidence of knowing Him is keeping His commandments. A genuine relationship with Christ results in a transforming love that is both recognized and evident in our actions and choices. Therefore, rather than seeking assurance from past experiences or emotional highs, we must look to the ongoing presence of His love in our lives, which is inseparable from our obedience and faithfulness to Him. This assurance reflects the work of the Spirit in our hearts, consolidating our identity as beloved children of God.
