How do we know we are obeying God's commandments?

Answered in 1 source

We know we are obeying God's commandments when our lives reflect a consistent practice of faith and love for one another, stemming from our relationship with Christ.

Obedience to God's commandments is a reflection of our relationship with Him. According to 1 John 2:3-4, John states that a true indicator of knowing God is keeping His commandments. When we genuinely know God, the natural outcome is an inclination to follow His word, which includes believing in Christ and loving others. Through this loving obedience, we demonstrate our understanding of and commitment to the relationship we have with God, which is foundational to our faith.
